WELCOME TO THE JUNIOR SCIENTISTS MICROBIOLOGY MEETING OF MARSEILLE
The Scale of Science in the JSM3!
The Junior Scientists Microbiology Meeting of Marseille (JSM3) is a scientific forum concerning all areas of microbiology, created by a group of Ph.D. students from Aix-Marseille University (AMU) in 2015. Our goal is to gather young scientists from Marseille and other research units in the South of France in order to create new networks and collaborations by facilitating the interaction among them.
This year, the fifth edition of the congress will highlight microbiological research conducted at the "Nano, Micro and Macro-Scale" through dedicated sessions and lecturers. The “Nano” session will have Dr. Matteo Brilli from the University of Milan, who will talk about integration of NGS analysis in the context of regulatory networks and Dr. David Lalaouna from the University of Strasbourg, who will share his work on non-coding RNAs in Staphylococcus aureus.
Dr. Erin Goley from Johns Hopkins University will deliver a talk on bacterial growth and cell division during the "Micro" session. The “Macro” session will be addressed by Dr. Filipe Cabreiro, from Imperial College London, who is working on the link between the host-microbiome interactions underlying metabolic diseases, cancer, and ageing. Finally, the congress will close with the lecture of Dr. Sam Illingworth from Manchester Metropolitan University, who will invite us to think over the role of researchers in scientific communication by using tools like poetry and games.
The previous editions of JSM3 would not have been as successful without the support of public and private funding as that provided by our sponsor Grand Luminy to whom we are very grateful. The participation of master's and Ph.D. students as well as post-docs is key to the success of the JSM3, thus, we invite you to join us at the CNRS Joseph Aiguier campus the 15th, 16th and 17th of May 2019. The deadline for abstract registrations is the 11th of March. More information about the congress and the modality of abstract submission is available on our website and our social media platforms Facebook and Twitter.
We are looking forward to meeting you all for this great event!
